Tribute to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II

It is with great sadness, the President of the Methodist Church in Ireland has extended the “sympathies and prayers of the Irish Methodist people” to the wider royal family following the death of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.

Paying tribute the Rev David Nixon said:

“It is impossible to adequately summarise in words the enormity of the extent to which the late Queen Elizabeth II dedicated herself to the service of her country.

We remember her unwavering commitment to the vow she took at 21 to devote her whole life to public service, and the quiet dignity with which she has, for over 70 years been a global ambassador for her nation, her values and her faith while successfully adapting to an endlessly changing world have been an inspiration to so many.

We have enormous appreciation for her steadfastness as she maintained her faith in God and lived by her calling to serve the people of the United Kingdom and those throughout the Commonwealth. We give God thanks for her long life, sacrificial leadership and dedication to duty.

To the King and Queen Consort, the wider royal family and all the late Queen’s many friends, as well as the staff of the Royal Household and the broader Commonwealth family, I extend the sympathies and prayers of the Irish Methodist people.”

In addition, Mr. Tom Wilson, Lay Leader of the Conference extends his assurance that,

“The Methodist Church family here in Ireland will uphold the whole of the Royal Family in our prayers.”
