Commissioned to serve in Ecuador
On Sunday 16 January, Melissa Newell was commissioned by the Methodist Churches in Britain and Ireland to go and serve as a mission partner with the United Evangelical Methodist Church in Ecuador. The service was held in Dungannon Methodist Church where Melissa’s father, Rev William Newell, is the minister.
There were a number of contributors in Sunday evening’s service including Rev Conrad Hicks, Director of Global Relationships (Methodist Church in Britain), Rev Stephen Skuce (Superintendent of the Methodist Church in Ireland’s North Western District), Rev Dr Sahr Yambasu (President of the Methodist Church in Ireland) and Rev Dr Laurence Graham (General Secretary of World Mission Partnership). Bishop Alfredo Pilatuña (Bishop of the United Evangelical Methodist Church in Ecuador) also took part in the service via video and brought greetings from Ecuador.
You can watch the commissioning service here.
Melissa hopes to travel in the coming weeks. Please continue to pray for Melissa as she prepares to move and serve in Ecuador, and for her family as they too prepare for this new chapter.
