Responding to the Myanmar Earthquake

On Friday 28 March, a 7.7 magnitude earthquake struck Myanmar. More than two thousand people have died, with thousands more injured.

Through World Development & Relief (WDR), the Methodist Church in Ireland is supporting Christian Aid Ireland’s humanitarian response to get food, shelter and medical care to those who desperately need it. 

WDR has already sent emergency funds of £5,000/€5,980.

Speaking about the tragic situation, the President of the Methodist Church in Ireland, the Rev Dr John Alderdice has said,

It is hard for us to comprehend the scale of the earthquake disaster in Myanmar. We must endeavour to support this humanitarian crisis in whatever way we can. I would urge us all to give financially to assist those who have no access to basic necessities as a result of the earthquake, and to pray for those impacted most and those who are working to rescue, support and rebuild.”
