The hospital is located in Wenchi town, in the middle-belt of Ghana. It serves over 180,000 people directly and as a referral centre for 19 health centres. There is a long history between the hospital and Irish Methodism. Over more recent years, WDR has provided support for the maternity wing, a new orthopaedic theatre, new staff accommodation (to attract and retain good staff) and the five-year training of an orthopaedic surgeon. Alex maintains this ongoing relationship as the hospital continues to expand its range of expertise and services.
